Portions of I-285 in Cobb County are shut after a person was struck and killed by a vehicle on Thursday morning.

Police activity in the ongoing situation has completely stopped I-285 SB west of I-75.

On the other side, I-285 WB is severely backed up, with police redirecting traffic off I-285 to the I-75 exit.

The I-75 exit ramps to I-285 are also shut, with I-75 itself backing up into Marietta due to all the activity.

If you can, 11Alive Traffic Tracker Crash Clark advises you to avoid the entire Cobb Cloverleaf area.

Those looking to get around things on the west side can try to use Atlanta Road or South Cobb Drive.

Commuters who usually take I-285 West to I-75 can try Northside Drive to Garmon Road and then to Mt. Paran Road. From farther back you can take Mt. Vernon Hwy. to Northside Drive, or Long Island Drive to Mt. Paran Road.

If you take I-75 all the way into town, you might want to consider taking Cobb Parkway past the Perimeter and getting back on at Cumberland Blvd.
