ATLANTA — Security checkpoints at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta are seeing longer wait times as a rush of people head home on Monday after the Thanksgiving weekend.
Pictures and video from the airport showed long lines extending beyond the atrium at the main security checkpoint, and the airport tweeted that it was "very busy."
According to Hartsfield-Jackson's flight info page, wait times at the International terminal are the most manageable, at 15-30 minutes. At the three Domestic checkpoints, however, wait times are currently projected between 45-60 minutes.
High numbers of travelers were expected to come through the airport on Monday, as people head home after the weekend on what is typically a cheaper day to fly than Sunday.
As it accommodates the influx of fliers today, Hartsfield-Jackson officials recommend you arrive two hours early for domestic flights and three hours early for international flights.
