Man with knife tased at Atlanta airport, authorities say

APD said it did not happen beyond the TSA checkpoints.

ATLANTA — Law enforcement officers said a man had to be tased at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport after he allegedly pulled out a knife and refused to drop it.

According to Atlanta Police, airport officers approached a man smoking a cigarette near the arrival escalators by the atrium at the airport.

APD said the officers asked the man to extinguish the cigarette. They said he threw it on a ground and pulled out a knife.

Officers asked the man to put knife down, but they said he refused and instead moved toward police. That's when an officer tased him.

Body camera video shows the moments unfold.

He was taken into custody, and no one else was hurt. APD said this did not occur beyond the Transportation Security Administration checkpoints.

No other details have been released.
