Passengers sent to hospital after flight with severe turbulence

According to officials Compass Airlines flight 5763 operating as Delta Connection from Orange County, CA had to be diverted after encountering severe turbulence.

ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. — A scary flight caused by severe turbulence landed a couple of passengers and one flight attendant in the hospital.

According to officials Compass Airlines flight 5763 operating as Delta Connection from Orange County, California had to be diverted after encountering severe turbulence.

Airline officials told 11Alive the flight was headed to Seattle but diverted to Reno instead. The aircraft landed safely and customers exited normally through the main cabin door.

A video posted by one Twitter user shows one of the serving carts turned over, leaving snacks and supplies tossed through the aisle.

"Crazy turbulence and injuries, but the @delta crew handled it perfectly, even the emergency landing," the tweet said.

In a statement, Delta said it plans on making resources available to take care of and support its customers. They will also be refunded and accommodated on an alternate flight to Seattle. 

Airline officials did confirm two customers and one flight attendant have been transported to the hospital for evaluation.
