The 11Alive StormTrackers will be monitoring the systems as they develop throughout the morning.

8:00 a.m. | A wind advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. 

7:00 a.m. | The rain is coming to an end, but watch for the winds today. 

6:32 a.m. | Rain is starting to stop in our area and is pushing further down to the south.

5:50 a.m. | Severe thunderstorm warnings issued for Monroe, Jones, Bibb, Lamar until 6:30 a.m. These counties are outside of our viewing area. 

5:20 a.m. | The rain is expected to be out of here by the middle of the morning.

4:45 a.m. | A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Cobb, Douglas, Carroll, Paulding, Haralson until 5:15 a.m. 

4:35 a.m. | Thunderstorms are moving into the metro area this morning.

4:00 a.m. | The severe thunderstorm watch has been canceled for multiple counties. 

That includes the following counties: Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Dawson, Fannin, Gilmer, Gordon, Lumpkin, Murray, Pickens, Towns, Union, Walker, White, and Whitfield

3:30 a.m. | A severe thunderstorm watch is still in effect until 6 a.m. for multiple Georgia counties. 

This includes the following counties: Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Dawson, Fannin, Gilmer, Gordon, Habersham, Lumpkin, Murray, Pickens, Rabun, Towns, Union, Walker, White, and Whitfield

11:21 p.m.: A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for multiple Georgia counties. The watch is in effect until 6 a.m. 

This includes the following counties: Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Dawson, Fannin, Gilmer, Gordon, Habersham, Lumpkin, Murray, Pickens, Rabun, Towns, Union, Walker, White, Whitfield

4:50 p.m.: The 11Alive radar shows the band of potential severe weather that has been moving over Alabama is now drifting into west Georgia.

The National Weather Service identifies areas mostly south of I-20 being at risk for this round of possible severe thunderstorms.

A later wave is expected to affect most all of north Georgia.

In both waves of potential severe weather, the NWS predicts moderate risk of damaging winds and a very low risk of tornadoes. The earlier wave this afternoon carries a slightly higher risk of large hail.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center also includes the very northwestern tip of Georgia, which would include counties like Dade, Walker, and Catoosa, in its area for an enhanced risk (level 3 of 5) of severe weather.
