Flash flood warning issued as severe storms rolled through

ATLANTA — Afternoon and evening widely scattered showers and storms are starting to develop, bringing heavy downpours, hail and gusts of wind to some metro Atlanta areas.

UPDATES:

8:52 p.m. - There are reports of a tree down on a house off Ramblewood Court and Cornwell Road in DeKalb County.

7:51 p.m. - The severe thunderstorm warning has been allowed to expire for Gwinnett County. It remains in effect for DeKalb and Rockdale County until 8 p.m.

7:31 p.m. - A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of DeKalb, Gwinnett and Rockdale counties until 8:00 p.m.

7:26 p.m. - The severe thunderstorm warning has been canceled for Clayton and Fayette counties. 

7:11 p.m. - The severe thunderstorm warning has been canceled for Fulton County. It remains in effect for Clayton and Fayette counties until 7:30 p.m.

6:57 p.m. - A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued fore DeKalb and Gwinnett counties until 7:30 p.m. 

6:47 p.m. - A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Clayton, Fayette and Fulton counties until 7:30 p.m. 

6:42 p.m. - A flash flood warning has been issued for portions of Cobb and Fulton counties. This is in effect until 12:45 a.m. Friday.

At 6:37 p.m., the National Weather Service said doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. 

6:15 p.m. - The severe thunderstorm warning has expired for Gilmer County.

5:44 p.m. - A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Gilmer County until 6:15 p.m. Hazards include 60 mph winds and quarter-sized hail. 

5:12 p.m. - The severe thunderstorm warning for Pickens County has been canceled.

5:04 p.m. - The severe thunderstorm warning has been canceled for Union County.

4:43 p.m. - A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Pickens County until 5:15 p.m.

4:36 p.m. - A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Union County until 5:15 p.m.
