WALTON COUNTY, Ga. -- The strong storms that moved through parts of the state Wednesday evening left behind some damage.
Severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings were issued for several counties, including parts of Walton, Madison, Newton, Clarke and more.
On Thursday, the National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado ripped through Social Circle with 100 mph winds.
The NWS said the path length was about 0.3 miles and at its maximum was about 100 yards wide.
Multiple homes on Social Circle Fairplay Road were damaged in the storm and photos show trees down in the area blocking the roadway.
The tornado began there and traveled east for only a third of a mile. Tree trucks were snapped, six homes damaged. Fortunately , no fatalities or injuries were reported.

Rain is expected to continue Thursday into Friday.
Major threats include damaging gusty winds, frequent vivid lightning, large hail and torrential rainfall. Creeks and rivers could rise out of their banks closing roads and impacting homes and businesses with little or no notice.
