First snowflakes may fall tonight across the North Georgia Mountains

Dusting at most is possible.

North Georgia will get the chance to see the first flurries of the season tonight. We aren't expecting anything even remotely impactful in regards to the amount of snow.

It will just be a reminder that winter is approaching.

So how much are we looking at?

A dusting ... at most.

In fact, the National Weather Service in Atlanta is giving far north Georgia a 10 percent chance that more than a dusting will fall tonight. Their forecast overall is calling for no accumulation.

Many of our computer models are indicating little to no accumulation whatsoever.

But, if there is going to be snow, it would fall in the higher elevations of the mountains where temperatures would be cold enough to support snow creation.

Speaking of cold, it is going to be freezing cold tonight. Probably colder than the last round of freeze warnings when Atlanta only fell to 35 on the coldest morning.

Of course, with the wind, we subtract several degrees from the actual temperature, bringing wind chill values down into the 20s and teens!
