Strong disturbance gusts into Colorado: Watches, warnings for high winds, significant snowfall

Strong winds will make their way into eastern Colorado with a High Wind Warning in place for most of the plains.

COLORADO, USA — FORECAST BY: Ed Greene

TODAY AT A GLANCE: A strong, fast-moving disturbance will slam through the state bringing snow and blowing snow to the high country impacting mountain travel. Mountain snow may be enhanced by the passage of a vigorous cold front.

As a result, Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warning are out for most mountain locations. Avalanche Watches and Warnings have also been issued for portions of the northern and central mountains.

The eastern plains will also suffer these powerful winds with gusts to 75 mph and at times even stronger. Therefore, a High Wind Warning has been issued for most of the eastern plains.

The weather generally calms down as the disturbance races off to the northeast, but light snow could continue in the high country for most of the weekend.
