We are looking at two rounds of rain and thunderstorms today. Some could be strong to severe. The first round will be early in the morning. The second will come after 3pm.
The Storm Prediction Center puts much of our area in a "slight" or level 2 of 5 risk for severe storms. That means there is a chance for a few scattered strong storms. The main threats would be heavy rain, frequent lightning, hail and damaging wind. The tornado risk is very low due to the lack of shear with these storms.
There is a 60% chance for the rain. Highs will be in the upper 80s.
Slightly drier air will move in behind the front Friday, and we will have a much lower chance for rain (20%). Highs will be in the low 90s.
Highs will continue in the 90s Saturday and Sunday, with a 30 to 40% chance for afternoon showers.
