Freeze warnings issued for cold night ahead

The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning that will go into effect at 11 p.m. and will remain until 8 a.m. Friday.

The rain is expected to move out Thursday afternoon but the cold is here to stay.

North and portions of central Georgia will be affected.

These are the counties included: Baldwin; Banks; Barrow; Bartow; Butts; Carroll; Catoosa; Chattooga; Cherokee; Clarke; Clayton; Cobb; Coweta; Dade; Dawson; De Kalb; Douglas; Fannin; Fayette; Floyd; Forsyth; Gilmer; Glascock; Gordon; Greene; Gwinnett; Hall; Hancock; Haralson; Heard; Henry; Jackson; Jasper; Jones; Lamar; Lumpkin; Madison; Meriwether; Monroe; Morgan; Murray; Newton; North Fulton; Oconee; Oglethorpe; Paulding; Pickens; Pike; Polk; Putnam; Rockdale; South Fulton; Spalding; Taliaferro; Towns; Troup; Union; Upson; Walker; Walton; Warren; White; Whitfield; Wilkes 

Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 20s and lower 30s.

The NWS says freezing temperatures could kill sensitive vegetation and damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.  Be sure to take precautions.

After days of rain, flood warnings were issued for several and flash flood watches were issued for several counties. Many of those advisories expire Thursday morning.
