ATLANTA — We are moving toward the end of March in north Georgia, which means the chance for increased severe weather events.

For Friday, we will be getting another round of storms that will bring the threat of damaging wind, large hail and even an isolated tornado in north Georgia.

Here is the latest severe weather outlook from the Storm Prediction Center. They've moved the highest risk areas a little further south verses earlier this morning. There is a level 3 risk area for southwest Georgia and southern Alabama. There is a level 2 risk area for the southwest metro. There is a level 1 risk area for Atlanta and points northeast.

While the highest threat for severe storms Friday will be well to our south and west, it will be important to keep a close eye on the weather and have a way to receive alerts throughout the day.

Several metro Atlanta counties, such as Heard, Carroll, Coweta and Haralson, are in the slight risk zone, as are the southernmost tips of Fulton, Douglas and Paulding counties.

TIMELINE:

Mid-Morning:
The timing for the storms shows them moving into parts of Georgia during the latter part of the morning on Friday.

Later in the evening, some lingering showers move in but the storm environment will become less favorable later as we work into tonight.

Quieter conditions will move in for the weekend with dry weather on Saturday and Sunday as temperatures sit right around average for this time of year.

Be sure to stay up-to-date on the severe weather threat and know that the timeline could change slightly over the next 24 hours.

Check the weather before leaving the house on Friday to be sure you don't drive into any possible severe storms and have a way to receive alerts on any possible severe storms throughout the day.
