Claudette is a tropical storm again

It will move off the coast Monday

ATLANTA — Claudette is moving further offshore and will parallel the coastline northward later Monday. Rip currents and rough surf remain threats.

10:30 a.m. | The sun is starting to poke through the clouds in the city of Atlanta! We are not completely out of the woods, as far as rain goes, but there should be plenty of time for outdoor Father's Day celebrations this afternoon. 

9:45 a.m. | We got these photos from a viewer in Summerville in Chattooga County of flooding inside businesses and around town. 

8:45 a.m. | A massive tree and power lines fell on a car in northwest Atlanta. The driver had to be extracted from the vehicle.

8:30 a.m. | The center of Claudette is pretty much right on top of metro Atlanta this hour. It will continue moving to the east and away from us. Showers and storms also shift east and diminish in our area. 

6:30 a.m. | Here's the latest update from 11Alive Chief Meteorologist Chris Holcomb:

4:45 a.m.: The center of the system is 85 miles WSW of Atlanta.  It is moving ENE at 13mph.  The system will move just south of Atlanta then move east of the city with rain diminishing.  

1:47 a.m.: The Emergency Management in Chattooga County reports multiple homes and businesses inundated with water. So far, between 2.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen with another 1 to 2 inches possible.

1:46 a.m.: The Flash Flood Warning for Chattooga County has been extended until 9 a.m. Sunday.

1:45 a.m.: The 2 a.m. advisory for Tropical Depression Claudette shows the system 45 miles south of Birmingham moving NE at 13 mph. The center of the low is expected to be just south of Atlanta around 8 a.m. and move east of the city with tropical rain bands.

11:15 p.m.: The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Chattooga County until 5:15 a.m. Sunday.

4:49 p.m.: Claudette downgraded to a depression as it moves closer to Georgia.

3:16 p.m.: A flash flood watch has been issued for several Georgia counties through Sunday evening. In and around our area, those include Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin, White, Bartow, Cherokee, Forsyth, Hall Banks Jackson, Madison, Polk, Paulding, Cobb, Fulton, Gwinnett, Barrow, Clarke, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Haralson, Carroll, Douglas, DeKalb, Rockdale, Walton, Newton, Morgan, Greene, Heard, Coweta, Fayette, Clayton, Spalding, Henry, Butts, Jasper, Putnam, Troup, Meriwether, Pike, Upson, Lamar. 

Heavy rainfall with totals of two to four inches are expected over the catch area with amounts up to six inches possible over portions of western and northern Georgia. Creeks and streams may also rise out of their banks in the areas impacted.
