Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has issued a state of emergency for all of Georgia.
The Georgia Emergency Management Agency is providing a list of shelters and campgrounds open for evacuees.

The City has opened a shelter at Central Park Recreation Center located at 400 Merrits Avenue, NE. The Red Cross is on site as the primary facilitator with the City of Atlanta's support. This shelter has the capability to house 125 individuals.
Fulton County will also open the Jefferson Place Emergency Shelter located at 1135 Jefferson Street, NW today at 11 a.m.
Day shelters including the Salvation Army, City of Refuge, and Peachtree-Pine will serve as overflow centers once the Central Park Recreation Center and Jefferson Place Emergency Shelter have reached capacity. For the latest information on emergency shelters, please visit ATL311.com.

These campgrounds are open for evacuees:
*Georgia State Parks are open to all evacuees at no cost and no pet fees
"Once all cabins, yurts and campsites fill, we welcome evacuees to “dry camp” at no cost. Areas for “dry camping” will include parking lots, fields, group shelters and similar locations. Parks not in the affected area are accepting evacuees until they reach maximum capacity. Access will be provided to fresh water and comfort stations. Please bring supplies for camping and preparing meals."
Parking and Pets
We are waiving the parking fee for evacuees. We are allowing pets in all cabins and cottages and waiving the additional pet fee.

*West Point Lake will open Holiday campground to accommodate evacuees from Hurricane Irma. Registration for a campsite will be handled at Holiday campground gatehouse. Although not required, evacuees are encouraged to call Holiday campground in advance at 706.884.6818. Effective on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 8 a.m.
Please provide some form of identification that verifies they reside in one of the impacted areas from this hurricane before obtaining a campsite.
Address: 954 Abbottsford Road, LaGrange, Georgia 30240. The park is located off GA Highway 109, approximately 10 miles west of Lagrange, GA.
* Atlanta Motor Speedway will open its camping facilities free of charge on their unreserved campground facilities to evacuees seeking temporary refuge from the approaching Hurricane Irma. The speedway will open its facilities Thursday. Evacuees will have free access to hot showers and restroom facilities at the Rinnai Shower Station camper bath house. *Georgia Tourism: In order to ensure the health and safety of our visitors, Georgia Tourism has activated a hurricane information page to assist impacted guests and citizens during this significant weather event. From the site, travelers can find available lodging options, traffic updates, closure information and weather conditions in Georgia. Access to the site can also be found by visiting ExploreGeorgia.org. Travelers can visit one of our 11 Visitor Information Centers located off major interstates, or call 1-800-VISIT GA (847-4842) for additional help finding lodging options.
*Equine Evacuation Site: The Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter will serve as an Equine evacuation site for those in the line of Hurricane Irma. GNFA has a limited number of stalls available that will be opened to evacuees on a first come, first serve basis, no reservations will be accepted. Effective Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 8:00 a.m.
Owners will be required to provide the necessary feed, hay and tack to care for all horses while here. With the limited number of stalls available, equine owners will need to have a secondary site in case they’ve met capacity before arriving in Perry. Additional site locations can be found here.
* Salem Campground: The campground located in Covington, Georgia (convenient to I-75 & I-20) is now welcoming evacuees to our wide range of facilities:
