Over 40,000 without power in metro Atlanta, 3,000 in central region: Georgia EMC

For the entire Metro-Atlanta area, Georgia EMC is reporting 42,378 outages. 3,598 are being reported in middle Georgia near Putnam.

FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. — UPDATE 4:54 p.m.: Severe weather has left north Georgia and traveled through part of metro Atlanta, leaving residents around 2,000 residents without power in Fulton County and 4,000 in Clayton County. 

Currently, severe weather is traveling south, impacting parts of Henry, Butts and Putnam. 

For the entire Metro-Atlanta area, Georgia EMC is reporting 42,378 outages. 3,598 are being reported in middle Georgia near Putnam.

As severe weather travels through parts of the state, Georgia Power customers are reporting outages.

An estimated 1,725 people are reporting outages in Floyd County, concentrating in Cave Spring. Around 596 people in Polk County are also without power, according to the Georgia Power outage map.

As of 3:17 p.m., Georgia EMC is reporting a total of 4,232 outages in north Georgia and 491 outages in West Georgia. To view the Georgia EMC map, click here
