Driver rescued after large oak tree falls on top of delivery truck

Atlanta Fire Rescue also responded to a submerged car near Chastain Park.

ATLANTA — One person was rescued from a truck after a tree knocked down power lines onto the truck cab in Atlanta Friday afternoon.

Atlanta Fire Rescue crews pulled the man from the box truck that was crushed by a large oak tree.

This is happening on Blackland Road NW, near Chastain Park. Atlanta Fire said that power lines also fell on top of a fire truck responding to storm damage.

Some of the tree branches also landed on Fire Engine 26, crews said. A firefighter in the truck was able to escape safely.

The intersection of Peachtree Battle Road and Woodward Way is also closed due to flooding. Atlanta Fire said its swiftwater team responded to reports of a vehicle submerged up to the roof.

Thankfully, no one was inside the car at the time.
