Northwest Georgia residents who felt a little rumble weren’t imagining things.

The United States Geological Survey has reported a 2.2 level quake near Trion, Ga. in Chattooga County.

The earthquake happened about 2.5 miles west-southwest of the city and at about 6 miles in depth late Wednesday morning.

On the Richter Scale, 2.2 is a very minor earthquake compared to those felt on the West Coast. However, quakes on the east coast tend to be felt over a larger area.
