Deputies share video of strong wind knocking over semi truck during Spalding County tornado

The clouds traveling over the busy highway look turbulent. Watch the Facebook clip below.

SPALDING COUNTY, Ga. — Spalding County Sheriff's deputies shared a Facebook video Monday showing moments as just one of multiple tornadoes passed through the area a few weeks ago.

In the video, a car can be seen traveling along Highway 16 West at McDonough Road, officials said in the post.

The clouds traveling over the busy highway look turbulent. Traffic lights began to swing drastically in the air.

Almost halfway through the video, the wind starts to pick up, knocking over a semi-truck in front of the car. The truck is pushed onto its side as cars try to move around it.

Sheriff's deputies have not said if the driver of the truck was hurt. The footage can be seen below.

People in the comments where stunned by the video.

"Thank God no one was on the other side of that truck," one Facebook user  said.

"Wow, blew that truck over like it was a piece of paper," another person said.

The NWS confirmed at least four tornadoes traveled through the county on Jan. 12; one of the twisters was an EF-3 storm.

The latest damage assessment revealed the tornadoes damaged or destroyed nearly 2,000 residential and commercial properties in the City of Griffin and Spalding County alone.

Disaster Survival Assistance Teams from GEMA and FEMA have opened a few recovery centers for residents still dealing with damage. The assistance programs have also opened one-on-one sessions for residents directly impacted.

County officials believe cleanup could take months as they also work to help residents get the help they need.
