Scattered showers pass through metro Atlanta | Live updates

11Alive is tracking the latest weather developments.

ATLANTA — Summer storms are making their way across metro Atlanta Friday. However, the high rain chances will be reserved for areas of far North Georgia, closer to the Tennessee and North Carolina state lines.

Metro Atlanta could see some scattered showers and thunderstorms.

8:45 p.m. | Atlanta Police confirmed that a tree fell into a driveway on Fairburn Road Friday evening. They said no injuries had been reported. 

6:32 p.m. | Morgan, Walton and Newton counties are under a severe thunderstorm warning Friday night until 7 p.m., as prompted by the NWS.

5:45 p.m. | The National Weather Service has expired the severe thunderstorm warning for metro Atlanta counties. The remnants of the storm are moving with less intense rain through Gwinnett and surrounding counties, according to 11Alive forecasters.

5:35 p.m. | Pop-up thunderstorms are moving through the northern part of meter Atlanta's perimeter with lightning and rumbles of thunder impacting the commute home. 11Alive Chief Meteorologist Chirs Holcomb details who is getting the worst of the storms.

5:25 PM | 11Alive Chief Meteorologist Chris Holcomb provides an update on weather conditions in our area. The severe thunderstorm warning comes with 60mph winds. Watch the video below.

5:11 PM | A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of DeKalb and Fulton County. It is set to expire at 5:45 p.m.
