ATLANTA — We've endured some of the hottest temperatures since 2016 over the last week.

The high temperature of 100° in Atlanta on Tuesday was the hottest day since June 2016 and tied the record the day.

A recently frontal passage has brought drier air for the next couple of days.

Unfortunately, the humidity will return but the record challenging temperatures should be held at bay.

The hottest temperatures will instead be across the desert southwest where a large bump in the jet stream will allow for highs to be in the 100s, which is not out of the ordinary.

As the humidity returns, so will the rain chances. Most of the state of Georiga would like some rain as dry conditions jumped up over the last week. The areal extent of abnormally dry conditions nearly doubled from 24% to 44%.

Most of this rain may come from the day time rain but some tropical storm system influence may contribute to even higher amounts in coastal Georgia.

Overall, this looks to be a very seasonal or average pattern with highs near 90 after this weekend.
