Warnings issued for parts of Georgia ahead of possible flooding

Here's what you need to know about the flood warnings.

As rain continues to move through the state, more flood warnings have been issued. Some areas have already picked up 1 to 3 inches of rain. 

Another 2 to 3 inches of rain is possible as this next wave moves through. 

Here are some of the areas affected.

Suwanee Creek

The Suwanee Creek at Suwanee remains below flood stage this afternoon but is expected to quickly rise into minor flooding and remain there through Thursday afternoon before falling back down Thursday evening. A flood warning will go into effect for the area at 5:40 a.m. Thursday

Oconee River

There is a flood warning for the Middle Oconee River near Arcade until Friday morning. The river is expected to fall through the afternoon before rising quickly Thursday, cresting in the afternoon at 18.4 feet.

The flood warning for Oconee River near Penfield goes into effect this afternoon at 1:45 PM until 8:30 AM Sunday.

Sweetwater Creek

A flood warning for Sweetwater Creek near Austell is in place until midnight. The water level has already reached the maximum height and is forecast to continually fall. 

The flood warning for Oconee River near Penfield goes into effect this afternoon at 1:45 PM until 8:30 AM Sunday.

Several more inches of rainfall are possible as the heaviest rain moves in tonight with up to 4 more inches of rainfall possible
