Storms bring down trees, crews work to clear debris

There was a risk for damaging wind, heavy rain and isolated tornadoes on Tuesday.

ATLANTA — Two rounds of showers moved through the area again Tuesday. There was a risk for damaging wind, heavy rain and isolated tornadoes.  

A few showers moved through earlier in morning, then strong thunderstorms moved in later and in the early afternoon. An enhanced risk for severe weather was in place for some counties.

10 p.m. | A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Bibb, Houston, Sumter, Peach, Crisp, Crawford, Dooly, Lamar, Macon, Pulaski, Monroe, Upson and Pike counties. This will expire at 10:15 p.m.

9:27 p.m. | A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has now been issued for Crawford, Lamar, Macon, Marion, Meriwether, Monroe, Peach, Schley, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor, Upson and Webster counties. It will expire at 10 p.m.

9:06 p.m. | Chattahoochee, Harris, Meriwether, Muscogee, Talbot and
Troup counties until 9:15 p.m.

9:03 p.m. | Spalding, Coweta, Fayette, Pike, Meriwether are now under a severe thunderstorm warning until 9:30 p.m.

8:40 p.m. | A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Harris, Meriwether, Muscogee, and Troup counties has been extended until 9:15 p.m.  

7:51 p.m. | A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Harris, Meriwether, Muscogee, and Troup counties. It will expire at 8:30 p.m.

7:42 p.m. | A flash flood warning has been issued for Barrow, Carroll, Cobb
DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton, Gwinnett, Haralson, Paulding, Polk, Rockdale and
Walton counties until 10 p.m.

7:35 p.m. | A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for parts of middle Georgia until 1 a.m. Wednesday. 

 

6:20 p.m. | Crews in Sandy Springs are working to restore power after a tree came down in the area, bringing down power lines.

5:00 p.m. | Severe thunderstorm watch expires for Barrow, Butts, Carroll, Clarke, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Greene, Gwinnett, Haralson, Heard, Henry, Jackson, Jasper, Madison, Morgan, Newton, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Paulding, and Polk counties. 

4:00 p.m. | Severe thunderstorm watch has been canceled early for 13 north Georgia counties. Continues until 5 pm for the remaining counties.

2:50 p.m. | Tornado warning in Cleburne County, Alabama canceled 10 minutes early. 

2:30 p.m. | Tornado warning issued for Cleburne County, Alabama until 3 p.m. EST. This system is moving east at 30 mph.

2:20 p.m. | A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Carroll, Polk, Haralson, Paulding, Floyd and Bartow counties until 3 p.m. 

2 p.m. | A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Calhoun, Talladega, Cleburne and Cherokee counties until 2 p.m.

1:55 p.m. | A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Fulton, Gwinnett, Forsyth, Hall and Cobb counties until 2:30 p.m. 

1:30 p.m. | Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Carroll, Cobb, Douglas, Haralson and Paulding counties until 2 p.m.

1 p.m. | A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Bartow, Cherokee, Cobb, Paulding and Polk counties until 1:30 p.m. 

12:35 p.m. | Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Barrow, Cherokee, Dawson, Gilmer, Gordon and Pickens until 1:15 p.m. 

11:25 a.m. | Severe thunderstorm warning for Catoosa, Murray, Walker and Whitfield counties extended to Noon. 

10:55 a.m. | A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for much of north Georgia.

10:45 a.m. | Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Whitfield and Walker counties until 11:30 a.m.
