CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -- Two children and a woman are dead and a man is facing charges after a late night accident in Bartow County, Friday.

The accident happened on Georgia Route 20 near Cowan Drive around 11:35 p.m.

That's where emergency responders said a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck and a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee collided when the truck's driver said the Jeep began to slow down.

The Georgia State Patrol said 51-year-old Scottie Worfford of Rockmart said he was unable to slow his vehicle and struck the back of the Jeep.

The impact killed the Jeep's driver, 25-year-old Deneisha Washington of Dalton as well as two children, 11-month-old Octavian Bynum from Dalton and 2-year-old Iyania Bynum of Dalton.

Investigators said 8-year-old Shamya Washington from Dalton was also injured and airlifted to Children's Hospital at Egleston.

Worford was taken the Cartersville Medical Center and has been charged with three counts of first degree vehicular homicide, serious injury by vehicle, driving under the influence and following too closely.
