Family learns Georgia State student missing for three days was murdered

First responders found him in critical condition but were unable to save him.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- Police have identified a man killed at a DeKalb County gas station as a Georgia State student reported missing the same day.

Family first reported 24-year-old Jason Williams missing on Tuesday - the same day he was shot at a Citgo station on Columbia Drive. First responders found him in critical condition but were unable to save him.

Police believe Williams may have been inside a car when he was shot and then fell out. They believe the vehicle then drove, the suspects leaving him to die.

Witnesses said they heard multiple gunshots in the parking lot.

"Usually, these gas stations, they do have pretty good surveillance cameras, so we'll be able to view those and see if we can get some sort of I.D. of the vehicle," said DeKalb police spokesperson Shiera Campbell.

A missing poster that was shared on Instagram Wednesday morning claims Williams, a senior at Georgia State, had spoken to his parents about a job orientation that was coming up Wednesday. But, sadly, he never made it to the event and his calls began going straight to voicemail.

It wasn't until Friday that family learned of Williams' Tuesday death.
