Requested Food Items
Pop- Top Cans: These are easier for individuals who do not have stable housing equipped with kitchen utensils.
Canned Meats: Canned ham, tuna, corned beef can be the staple of a healthy meal.
Canned Fruits: We are often short on these items. These can often serve as dessert after a meal and appeal to children.
Canned Vegetables: Green vegetables are always good for pregnant mothers and children. Vegetables without salt are very useful for those with Diabetes.
Donations of dry goods (rice, pasta, cereal, corn meal etc); these items help to supplement the meals.

CAN - A - THON 2012
Dear Can-a-thon Supporter,
That support is needed now more than ever.
Once again, The Salvation Army will be the beneficiary of the Can-a-thon. Because of today's economy, many of our friends and neighbors are coming to The Salvation Army for the first time and because of your generous donations they will receive help. While the 11Alive Holiday Can-a-thon has raised more than one million cans of food since 1982, there are still many hungry and homeless in our community who need our help.
Families who come to The Salvation Army for assistance pay nothing for their food. The Salvation Army is active in our communities 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, meeting the needs and doing the most good in our local neighborhoods. With your help, we will continue to support and nourish people all over Georgia.
All of the food collected in Rome will remain in The Salvation Army food pantry for the greater Rome area.
On Friday, November 30, 2012, we invite you to join us as we come together to feed Georgia's hungry families. The 30th Anniversary of Can-a-thon will kick off at 5:00 A.M. and continue throughout the day. We will be collecting can food donations at the following locations:
Turner Field (Fulton County),
The School Box (South Gwinnett),
The School Box Town Center (Cobb), and
State Mutual Stadium - Rome
We encourage your school, organization or business to become a part of this community event. We need your help! Let us know you are participating in the 11Alive Holiday Can-a-thon by completing the attached registration form and returning it by November 26, 2012. You may also log on to www.11Alive.com/Canathon for additional information and online registration. Help us celebrate 30 years of caring! Help us make a difference in the lives of those in need! If you have questions, please fee free to contact Amy Holloway, aholloway@wxia.gannett.com or Marlene Henderson, henderson@wxia.gannett.com, or call (404) 892-1611.
Sincerely,
