Police: Teacher Sent Nude Pix to Girl

Police have uncovered another case of a teacher accused of child molestation. The accuser this time is a 15-year-old student.

The teacher was working as a substitute at Villa Rica High School.

Police said the teacher did not have any physical contact with the girl. They said he confessed to exchanging sexually-explicit photos and text messages with her.

The teacher, Bryan Joshua Driver, 21, is the second teacher from Villa Rica High School arrested in the past two months on child-sex-crime charges.

In February, 28-year-old Loren Henley, an algebra teacher and wrestling coach, was arrested and charged with sexual exploitation of a minor. Police said Henley was in possession of child pornography.

Driver is charged with two counts of child molestation and one count of enticing a child for indecent purposes.

"I don't think the schools do enough to screen the teachers," said parent Samatha Kwasigroh. "And considering this state has as much money going to education as it has, it's really pathetic."

The school system said there is no way that background checks can "red flag" teachers who have no criminal records. Both of the people arrested from Villa Rica High School had clean records until their arrests this year.

"Until something like this shows up on someone's record, we don't know" that they might turn out to be suspected predators, said Elena Schulenbury of the Carroll County School System.

"I don't have the answers" about preventing such criminal cases, said Kwasigroh, "I just know it's their job to keep children safe" in the schools. "They're supposed to have the answers" on how to do that.

As of late Friday afternoon, Driver remained in the Carroll County jail, after a magistrate judge granted him a $25,000 property bond.

Capt. Brian Camp of the Villa Rica Police Department said that on Thursday, the 15-year-old girl walked into the principal's office and made her accusation against Driver.

As police questioned Driver and the girl, Camp said, they found the photos and text messages that he and the girl had exchanged on their cell phones.

"Mr. Driver admitted to the acts," Camp said, "admitted that he had actually sent at least two different [lewd] pictures" of himself to the girl.  "He was very remorseful and admitted to everything."

Camp said that for about three weeks, Driver and the girl had been exchanging sexually explicit text messages over their cell phones. Camp said Driver also sent her the cell phone photos of himself naked, and he'd also been texting her about how he wanted her to pose in photos for him.  Camp said the girl did send Driver one photo, and then she wanted to turn to someone for help, but did not know, at first, who she could trust at the school.

"He's admitted to sending at least two," Camp said.  "She's saying that there were three or four pictures" of him exposing himself.  "And she had sent a picture exposing herself, without a shirt on, to him, and that image was still on the phone, he had it in his possession," Camp said.

"She's a little confused and not really sure how to handle it," Camp said.  "Embarrassed maybe, and not real sure how to go about it considering this is a person that's teaching at the school that she goes to. So, there was some apprehension on her part. But she decided that because the text messaging continued, and it made her uncomfortable, that she needed to come forward."

Schulenbury said Driver had been substitute teaching at Villa Rica High School for four months.  He also graduated from Villa Rica High School.

"Mr. Driver was immediately released from the sub list" when police arrested him Thursday, Schulenbury said, "and will no longer be within our system."

Camp said Driver lives with his parents in Villa Rica, and that they are devastated by his arrest and the charge against him.  They were unavailable for comment about whether they will help him post his bond, or whether he has hired an attorney.
