Conyers Police investigate Gamestop robbery and murder.
CONYERS, GA -- A Stone Mountain man is dead after he walked right into the middle of an armed robbery at a game store in Conyers Thursday morning. Adrian Snow, age 40, was shot when the robbers tried to tie him up, according to police.
Snow had no idea what he was walking into when he opened the door at the Gamestop on Dogwood Drive in Conyers at about 11:30AM. There were two men inside who already tied up the store clerk in a back room. Police said Snow interrupted them while they were stealing Xboxes and money.
"They told him they were going to tie him up," Conyers Police Chief Gene Wilson said. "He objected to that and he fought and they shot him." Snow was flown by helicopter to Grady Hospital where he underwent surgery. Late Thursday afternoon Chief Wilson said Snow took a turn for the worse when he came out of surgery.
Wilson said the suspects panicked after they shot Snow and ran from the store without taking the Xboxes and the money. That's when Conyers police showed up and saw the suspects running from the store. "They gave chase and were able to apprehend two suspects and recover two weapons.
Giovannte Maddox, age 27 of Atlanta and Demarkus Williams, age 25 of Atlanta were charged with Murder, Kidnapping, Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Crime, and Aggravated Battery.
Chief Wilson said Adrian Snows resistance may not have been in vain. "Once the shots were fired our two suspects panicked and left the location, and there's a very strong possibility that he did in fact save the clerks life," he said.
Wilson said the suspects were being interviewed by Gwinnett County Police and DeKalb County Police after his detectives were through with them. Both agencies had similar Gamestop robberies that had not been solved. Chief Wilson said those robberies were very similar to the Conyers robbery.
