GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- The Gainesville family selling everything to help their kids is now getting help from interested bidders.
There's a new website called "everythingweown.org". It's drawing attention to a story we first told you about on 11 Alive News Thursday night.
A Gainesville family decided they could live without most everything. Absolutely everything the family owns, except the kids and the house, are up for auction.
In 2008, the Peters family found out what meant something to them -- and it wasn't all their "stuff."
Seven-year-old Ayla came down with a mysterious illness, spent months in the hospital, dozens of tests, was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease called Stills.
Noah's favorite toy is his Elmo doctor's kit that he received while hospitalized at Egleston. He was diagnosed with Autism. He now needs daily therapy and a special diet.
All of this happened while Eli was still a baby.
Before 2008, Gregg was doing well self-employed. Before 2008, the Peters family was making ends meet. That is now impossible.
Back when the bills started piling up, Brittiny and Gregg had an agreement.
"We said that we'd give up everything to make sure he has his therapy," Brittiny said of one of their children.
That agreement is now reality. Brittiny and Gregg are selling everything they own on eBay. And that means everything.
It's a drastic move. It means no more big screen TV, no more nice furniture. Even though they are desperate to raise money for their own special needs kids, they are giving away 10 percent of that eBay sale to research for Stills disease and Autism.
In 2008, the Peters family found out everything they'd worked so hard for didn't really matter. They're selling all of it, and keeping only what really matters.
Right now, the Peters family's belongings are up for bulk auction -- $21,000 for everything. They said, if that doesn't work, they'll sell the items one by one -- whatever it takes.
