MOULTRIE, Ga. -- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has made an arrest in the death of an infant in south Georgia - and the man behind bars is the child's father.

Agents were called in by the Moultrie Police Department on Aug. 24 to assist in an investigation of a 2-month-old child. That child, Zoee Martin, was originally taken to the Colquitt Regional Medical Center before being moved to Navicent Medical Center in Macon, Georgia.

Despite all attempts to save the small child's life, she died on Sunday. An autopsy at the GBI Crime Lab in Macon revealed blunt force trauma to her head and body.

The next day, 17-year-old Cedric Deshawn Martin Jr. was arrested and charged with felony murder and cruelty to children in the first degree. Cedric was Zoee's own father.

Despite the arrest, the investigation is still considered active and police in Moultrie are asking anyone with more information regarding the child's death to call 229-616-7430. Those with information can also call the GBI's Thomasville, Georgia field office at 229-225-4090.
