Man charged on multiple counts after 2-year-old's death

The two-year-old had been "severely injured and suffered multiple internal injuries," police said.

FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. – A man is behind bars after a 2-year-old died from internal injuries.

On April 13, Floyd County Police responded to a call regarding an unresponsive child on Dodd Boulevard.

Police found the injured 2-year-old and another 5-year-old in the care of 38-year-old Hassan Rashad.

The 2-year-old had been “severely injured and suffered multiple internal injuries." Police said the incident happened in front of the 5-year-old.

The child later died as a result of those injuries.

Police charged Rashad with aggravated battery, aggravated assault, two counts of cruelty to children in the first degree, and felony murder.
