White, Ga. police chief, officer arrested

WHITE, Ga. -- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested White Police Chief David King and Officer Blake Scheff. 

According to a release, "King and Scheff are accused of arresting individuals on fabricated charges and reducing the criminal charges to a citation thereby collecting fines. These incidents occurred between December 2011 and April 2015."

King, 58, is charged with two counts of false imprisonment under color of legal process, two counts of theft by extortion and one count of violation of oath by public officer.

Scheff, 26, is charged with one count of false imprisonment under color of legal process, one count of theft by extortion and one count of violation of oath by public officer.

They were arrested on Tuesday March 2, following an investigation initiated by the GBI in October 2015 at the request of the Bartow County District Attorney's Office.

Both were booked into the Bartow County Jail and will be released on bond, according to the GBI.

The GBI said the criminal investigation is ongoing and will be turned over to the Bartow County District Attorney's Office.
