ATLANTA — Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport has hired their first female assistant general manager of public safety and security.
Hartsfield-Jackson sees 300,000 travelers and 2,700 flights per day. With this much traffic, the city of Atlanta and patrons of the airport need a person who understands the impact of good security.
That's why Hartsfield-Jackson Airport said they promoted 17-year veteran Jan Lennon.
Lennon started at the airport in 2002, as a deputy security director. She worked her way up the ladder and was promoted to security director in 2011, where she led a team that was responsible for protecting and managing the Airport security program overall.
After being internationally certified in 2016, the airport said it believed Lennon was ready for bigger and better roles. She will now be the first female in her role, one of the most senior in security at the airport.
Hartsfield-Jackson and the city of Atlanta said they are looking forward to Lennon taking over her new position, and commended her for being the first woman to fill this spot.
