Atlanta Ballet's costumers turn talents to healthcare front line

Hometown ballet company turns attention to hundreds of new masks each week.

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Ballet is dancing into a new arena to help those in need.

The company's costume shop may not be making tutus and garments, with their performances postponed, but they are making mask covers, surgical caps and isolation gowns for healthcare workers on the front line and beyond.

As they churn out hundreds of new masks each week, costume technician Susan Carter shared how their creative assembly line got started.

"When all of the craziness started, it really was good that we were able to take our skills and put them to use to help out the community," she said.

The Atlanta Ballet is accepting donations for materials from the community.
