Fire breaks out at East Point townhome

East Point Fire Department said crews were called out to a townhouse on Laurel Ridge Circle around 3:48 a.m.

EAST POINT, Ga. — A fire broke out at a townhouse in East Point on Friday morning, according to the fire department.

The East Point Fire Department said crews were called out to a townhouse on Laurel Ridge Circle around 3:48 a.m. after a neighbor reported heavy smoke and flames emerging from the unit.

When the first fire truck arrived at 3:54 a.m., officials reported heavy smoke and initiated a defensive attack, securing a water source. Unfortunately, officials said the structure suffered substantial fire and water damage, posing a potential collapse hazard. The fire was contained to a single townhouse unit.

There are no reported injuries among firefighters or civilians according to East Point Fire. 

The cause of the fire is presently under investigation, with no additional information available at this time.
