Law enforcement from around the state gather to remember GSP Trooper

Law enforcement officials from as far as Cobb County came to pay their final respects.

Georgia State Patrol Trooper Tyler Davis Parker was laid to rest Sunday in Cordele.

Parker died earlier this week after his car hydroplaned and hit a tree.

Sunday afternoon, hundreds of law enforcement officials from across Georgia packed the Crisp County Middle School auditorium to pay their final respects to him.

Family members and officers wore green ribbons in memory of Parker.

Reverend Richard Williams began the service reminding everyone just how short life can be.

"Everybody's life, including Tyler's, shows us how fragile life is, every time we face death and entirety we are confronted with our mortality," Williams said.

Mourners fought back tears during a picture slideshow which also reflected Parker's humorous personality.

After the slideshow, Parker's best friend Jacob Posey powered through tears as he spoke about the person he was friends with for more than two decades.

"We convinced ourselves that we were best friends for so long and we convinced ourselves that we were born at the same hospital," Posey said.

Remembered as a God-fearing man who loved his daughter, his wife, and his family, Parker always looked out for anyone no matter who they were.

So as his family laid him to rest, they gave these words of comfort.

"Every day, Tyler is in heaven because he knows Jesus Christ, the Lord, and savior of his life," Reverend Mike Dorough said.

Parker's daughter remains in the hospital and, according to a family friend, she is on a road to a full recovery.
