A Macon eatery that doubles as a casserole shop and bakery celebrates 25 years on Wednesday.
The Casserole Shop and Bakery started out as an in-home catering company, according to the current owner, Tonya Sadler.
"We are so grateful to our loyal customers and my talented staff," Sadler said about the celebration. "I could not do this without them."
She says a garage that was converted into a kitchen ended up being a retail space to sell prepared meals to-go.
"What I did when I bought the bakery 10 years ago from the previous owner was --- we started offering more casseroles, more appetizers [and] ramping up the catering for all types of events," she said.

She added that around 2010, she and the staff saw a huge need for a specialty bakery in Macon. To fill that void, Sadler says they tripled the shop's square footage in both retail and cooking space.
In celebration of 25 years of business, Sadler and her staff are offering several deals and giveaways.
On the casserole side of things, the staff focuses on prepared meals to go.
"What that means is a casserole is a real homemade, comforting type of food that you can pick up in our store," she said.
After purchasing the casserole, the only thing left to do is pop it in the oven when you get home.
For the rest of the business day on Wednesday, until 6:00 p.m., there will be gift card giveaways, secretive giveaways and two pounds of chicken salad offered for $15.00.
"The most fantastic, biggest, grand prize giveaway that we have today is going to be giving one lucky winner one casserole for the next 25 months," she said.
The Casserole Shop & Bakery is located at 4420 Forsyth Road, Suite 180 and opens from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays and closed on Sundays and Mondays.
