HOSCHTON, Ga. — A Mill Creek High School teacher is out on bail after being arrested for an alleged '"inappropriate" relationship with a male student.

Gwinnett County Police arrested 48-year-old Julee Sams Impara March 1 after investigators say they found evidence that Impara and the student were having a sexual relationship while she was the still his teacher.

The investigation began after the mother of the student – a juvenile – found several inappropriate messages on her son's phone between him and Impara. When the student's mother confronted her about the situation, she did not deny the relationship was going on.

According to police, the student told investigators that he met Impara on the first day of school because she was one of his teachers. He said it was not uncommon for her to give out her personal cell phone number to her students and encourage them to contact her. The student said that he and Impara would have sexual contact outside school hours, and she would even pick him up at his home on occasion.

Impara has been booked into the a Gwinnett County Jail on one county of sexual assault. Police say because the incident is an act of "child abuse" under Georgia laws, further details about the investigation, including the student's identity, are confidential.
