Gun buyback program returns for the third year in East Point

East Point Police hosted the 3rd annual event this month

EAST POINT, Ga. — Guns were as good as gold for yet another year as the East Point Police held their annual gun buyback event Saturday, October 12 from 10 am - 2 pm.

Participants looking to anonymously turn in any kind of firearm, from handguns, shotguns to assault rifles at the East Point Police Sub-Station located at the Camp Creek Marketplace.

For participants turning in handguns, they received $25 (non-functioning) and $50 (functional) and for shotguns and rifles, a $75 gift card. That’s a 50 percent decrease from the $100 handguns and shotguns and $150 for assault weapons in 2018. Final tallies were not available at the time of this article’s publishing.
