Ricoh cutting 70 jobs at North Macon office

More than 70 people will lose jobs at a north Macon company.

Ricoh Business Solutions is laying off 74 people from their office on Arkwright Road.

Spokeswoman Kelly Fitzgerald says the office will remain open, but that the company is consolidating operations. She couldn't say how many people currently work at the office.

According to a letter from the company to Macon-Bibb mayor Robert Reichert, the 74 people have all been notified that their jobs will end on May 28.

This month, Reuters reported that the office-equipment company has cut more than 5,000 jobs in North America since the start of 2018, after their profits have slumped for the past four years.
