Shooting at Atlanta club leaves one man dead

ATLANTA -- One person died while another is in a local hospital following a shooting at a southwest Atlanta club, early Friday morning.

ATLANTA -- One person died while another is in a local hospital following a shooting at a southwest Atlanta club, early Friday morning.

The incident happened at or near LaCura Bar and Bistro, a club located at 1919 Metropolitan Parkway.

According to police, 51-year-old Melvin Allison of Rex was killed. Patrons told 11Alive that he was the manager of the club. The condition of the other victim, possibly a security guard. is not known. He was transported to the hospital.

Early information from patrons at the scene is that the manager and the security guard were escorting someone from the bar when that person drew a gun and shot both.

Authorities have one person of interest in custody. No information on motive or suspects has been released.
