‘N----- these days’ | Video shows students using racial slur

The tweet has garnered over 670 retweets with several comments calling for their girls racist and stating the school district should do something about the matter.

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. -- Video showing a group of presumed local high school girls eating McDonald’s and using a racial slur has caused outrage on social media.

A short 5-second clip was posted on Twitter by Everything Georgia who states the video originated on an Instagram story by a group of girls from North Paulding County High School. Students 11Alive spoke to said they were cheerleaders at the school.

The video shows the girls sitting on the floor with McDonald’s when the slur was captured on camera.

“They didn’t give us napkins,” one girl says in the video.

“N----- these days,” another girl says off camera.

The tweet has garnered hundreds retweets, and for a brief moment students said they were shocked to see their school trending for all the wrong reasons.

“I didn’t think it came from our school," one student told 11Alive's Neima Abdulahi. "I really did think it was some random video out on twitter. Then I started realizing some North people commenting on it. Then I did realize it came from our school.”

Comments on the post overwhelmingly expressed disappointment, with some calling the girls racist and calling for the school district to do something about the matter.

11Alive reached out to Paulding County School District on this matter who noted the incident did not happen on school grounds, though they are still looking in to the situation. Their statement is below:

“The Paulding County School District does not condone any type of discrimination. We believe students thrive best when provided a safe, challenging, and healthy environment. Our initial investigation indicates the video in question was not recorded on school property. We will continue our internal investigation, and will take appropriate action as warranted.”

Regardless, students told 11Alive's Neima Abdulahi the post was alarming and they're hoping it can be a lesson to be careful what you say.
