Police investigate apparent drive-by shooting in Athens

ATHENS, Ga. — Police are trying to find the gunmen who opened fire on a home, sending a spray of bullets flying.

Athens-Clarke County Police say officers were dispatched to a home off Sunny Hills Court around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday after getting multiple calls of gunfire.

When police arrived, witnesses told then a silver or gray SUV drove into the cul-de-sac and began shooting at vehicles parked in front of and at the residents. Bullets hit both the vehicle and the home where people were inside at the time. Thankfully, no one was hit.

Officers processed the scene and found "multiple" shell casings.

Detectives are now trying to figure out who is behind the shooting. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call police at 706-613-3888.
