Former Georgia Bulldog receiver Malcolm Mitchell may be all the way in Boston with the New England Patriots, but he is still giving back to Athens, Ga.
Mitchell is an avid reader and published children's book author. His first published book is The Magician's Hat, a book about showing children the power of reading and education.
In partnership with Mitchell's organization, Read with Malcolm, and Books for Keep, all first grade students in the Clarke County School District will receive a copy of the book.
Some schools in the district have already received the books. More will continue to be given out to students in schools throughout the fall, according to Books for Keep. In addition, all first-graders at schools served by Books for Keep will get a copy of Mitchell's book when picking out 12 other books from the program this spring.
Books for Keep, an organization that gives books to school children from low-income families, posted pictures on its Facebook Page of kids in the schools' libraries reading Mitchell's book.
"We've been in the schools to witness a few of these special library moments. Seeing young students excited about reading is the Best. Thing. Ever."
