Former Facebook exec says his children 'aren't allowed to use that sh--'

The company's former VP for growth says Facebook and its fellow social media cohorts are 'ripping apart' how society works.

A former Facebook higher-up says he won't allow his children to use social media and destroying society.

Fast Company reports that Chamath Palihapitiya recently spoke with the Stanford Graduate School of Business and offered some chilling opinions on social media.

Among his comments, he said that he feels "tremendous guilt" and believes that the social media tools that he and many others helped create are "ripping apart the social fabric of how society works."

And he isn't limiting the impact to Facebook alone. Palihapitiya looked back at a situation involving another platform, WhatsApp, in which a hoax led to seven innocent men being hanged in India.

Fast Company reports Palihapitiya fears social media could become a tool that would allow its users to be mobilized by one or more people with ill intent.
