Olympian's parents biked 10,000 miles to watch son compete in PyeongChang

Now that's dedication.

The parents of Olympian Mischa Gasser have spent the last year traveling from Switzerland to South Korea by bike to watch their son compete for just a couple of seconds in the Olympics.

They traveled 10,000 miles, documenting their trip on a blog and on Instagram along the way. They left Switzerland in February of 2017, and according to their travel logs, they arrived in PyeongChang around Feb. 13, 2018

“My dad is crazy,” Gassar told Yahoo! Sports after qualifying for for the men's Aerials.

The couple traveled through 20 different countries, according to Yahoo!. Some nights, they set up a tent to sleep in while others they found hotels.

There were a few shortcuts. They couldn't bike through North Korea, and they struggled to get in and out of China and had to take a train, according to one of the Instagram posts.

The Proclaimers would be proud.

Sie kippt mit Gepäckträger von der Gabel weg. Die Stimmung ist gereizt. Müdigkeit, Erschöpfung und Frust entladen sich. Eine Begutachtung zeigt, dass eine Schraube samt einem cm2 Gabelblech aus der Gabel herausgewürgt wurde. Die Vibrationen sind stark, oder die Gabel zu schwach? In einer Werkstatt schweisst der Mechaniker das Blechteil wieder an. Um die Vibrationen zu verringern erhalten die Gepäckträger zusätzlich eine Rohrschelle. Am Abend schöner Campingplatz! Die Berge sind nah! Ruhe zieht ein. Gute Nacht, SCHNARCH.....

Dabei ist noch nicht garantiert dass man das Visa bekommt. Okay, das Zugticket für heute Abend ist gebucht wir fahren zurück nach Almaty. Dort gehen wir noch einmal zum chinesischen Konsulat und schauen ob ich unrasiert reinkomme. WOHIN WÜRDEST DU FLIEGEN WENN DU IM FEBRUAR DENNOCH IN SÜDKOREA SEIN WILLST. ZWEI FLÜGE SIND ERLAUBT.
