PLAINS, Ga. — The Plains community gathered for a private funeral service and motorcade on Wednesday to remember and honor former First Lady Rosalynn Carter.
Mrs. Carter, the lifelong partner and confidant of 39th President Jimmy Carter, died on Nov. 19 at 96 years old. They were married for 77 years.
The funeral service took place at Maranatha Baptist Church. Jan Williams, a longtime member of the church and a friend of the Carter family, said around 300 invited guests were expected at the church, along with thousands of visitors to Plains.
While the funeral service is private, people can send in condolences from wherever they are via a dedicated legacy page.
