ROSWELL, GA -- Early voters say they are mostly turned off by the negative tone of the campaign for Governor in the Republican runoff.
Yet, some say that same messaging has helped them make their choices in the ballot box.
"We're not big on negative ads," said Mike Tompros, who was early-voting with his wife at the Roswell library.
"But then as you see more come out, you kind of get to make a decision on what comes out that’s not honest," added Leigh Tompros.
Mike said Brian Kemp's messaging against Casey Cagle helped sway his vote.
"How do you know what he really stands for?" he asked.
The negative messaging "influenced me. I didn't say I liked it," laughed Andy Ross, who also early voted in Roswell.
Cagle has relentlessly attacked Kemp, saying he mishandled voter data as Secretary of State.
Norma Bartek also didn't like it.
"I found it very upsetting the way they were taking out after each other, and politics has become so biased and so dirty in my estimation," she said.
Yet she said the messaging against Cagle also influenced her vote.
