ATLANTA — Cody Alcorn is an award-winning journalist for 11Alive in Atlanta. He spent the last 16-years of his career in Greenville, South Carolina before moving to Atlanta in August 2022.

A native of Sikeston, Missouri, home to Lambert’s Café, known as “Home of Throwed Rolls,” Cody graduated from The University of Tennessee at Martin with a Bachelor’s in Communications.

He started his career at WBBJ-TV in Jackson, Tennessee before moving to the Palmetto State and joining WHNS-FOX Carolina in Greenville in 2006.

There isn’t much Cody hasn’t covered in his 17-year career, whether it’s breaking news, breaking weather, a Super Bowl, or a presidential inauguration. He has taken viewers to the southern border where he walked, rode and flew along with Customs and Border Protection officers for a week at the Nogales, Arizona service port.

When he isn’t reporting on-air, you can find him on one of his social media platforms updating people on what’s happening in their communities.

“Social media hasn’t only changed the way we report the news but also how we gather the news,” he said. “My social media accounts are crucial in my newsgathering, as well as building a rapport with our viewers.”
