Woman leaves child in drug-filled SUV while breaking into home, deputies say

Among various items of clothes, purses, and cell phones in the SUV, officers also found several baggies of methamphetamine.

CUMMING, Ga. – A woman was arrested after leaving her sleeping child in an SUV containing drugs while she broke into a home.

On December 6, around 10 in the morning, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a home in the 4100 block of Browns Bridge Road in reference to an audible alarm call.

When the deputy arrived at the location, the owner of the property pulled in behind him. The two noticed a silver Acura SUV in the backyard and the owner told the deputy he did not recognize it, according to the incident report.

When searching the SUV, the deputy found a small child sleeping in the rear seat surrounded by various items in the car including clothes, cushions, and parts of a shelf.

As the deputy waited for backup to arrive, he heard a noise coming from the back of the house, according to the report. The deputy saw Theresa Bice coming through a back window.

Bice told the deputy she was looking at the house because ‘she wanted to see how much work it needed.’ When asked if she was given permission to be on the property she said no but ‘thought it was okay since it was for sale,’ according to the report.

Deputies went through the SUV and found random items such as light fixtures, purses, multiple cell phones, and kids’ toys. They also found several bags and containers of methamphetamine, according to the report.

Bice was arrested and charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of meth with the intent to distribute and possession of drug-related objects.
