Police search for suspects who stole handguns from Dick's Sporting Goods

The suspects attempted to break several display cases and were finally able to break one, stealing several handguns.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. - Police are asking for the public's help with any information on what appears to be two suspects stealing guns from a Dick's Sporting Goods store.

The surveillance video shows possibly two suspects dressed in all black entering the guns section of the business, located at 305 Pavillion Parkway in Fayetteville.

Police say the suspects entered the store at 4:43 a.m. on Thursday, December 21. They were prepared -- and quick.

"[They were] in and out the door in a minute and 20 something seconds," said Fayetteville Police Captain Chad Myers. "Brought with them everything they needed. They brought book bags. They were covered head to toe wearing all black so you couldn't identify race, sex -- everything like that."

According to the video, the suspects attempted to break several display cases and were finally able to break one, stealing several handguns.

"It could have been a lot worse if those security measures weren't in place," Myers said.

Myers said police were particularly concerned because now there are handguns on the street that could be used in other crimes.

"It's important to find out who these guys are before these guns get into the wrong hands," Myers said.

If anyone has any information related to this incident, they are asked to please contact Detective Shawn Albea at 770-461-4441 or call Fayetteville PD at 770-461-4441.
